Wipro launches unit to accelerate cloud transformation on AWS
Bengaluru-based information technology (IT) services major Wipro on Monday announced the launch of a dedicated unit to help customers fast-track their cloud transformation journey on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Dubbed Wipro AWS Business Group (WABG), the unit looks to help organisations worldwide drive business acceleration, improve customer experience and leverage connected insights, Wipro said in a statement.
Additionally, customers can leverage the Wipro AWS Launch Pad to facilitate their business transformation programmes, it said.
The companies have collaborated on multiple projects recently, one of which was to implement cloud solutions for Wabtec, a supplier of critical components, locomotives, services, signaling, and logistics systems and services for the global rail industry. In June, Wipro and AWS extended their partnership to offer DevOps solutions for enterprises.
“Our close relationship with Wipro and AWS has allowed us to leverage cloud to drive continuous innovation that is pertinent to our organisation," Richard Smith, CIO of Wabtec, said.
The Wipro AWS Business Group will house more than 10,000 AWS-certified consultants, along with specialised teams focusing on business development, talent creation, solution development and delivery execution.
The business group will enable clients to rapidly achieve the benefits of moving to AWS, eliminate the undifferentiated heavy lifting of managing their IT infrastructure, and instead focus on their core business, Matt Garman, vice president of sales and marketing at AWS, said.
“We are seeing a rapid growth of our AWS business and are now ready to take this collaboration to the next level. Wipro has continuously demonstrated its deep cloud expertise and ‘business first’ thinking in enabling enterprises to become nimble and future-ready,” Bhanumurthy BM, president and chief operating officer at Wipro, said.
“Wipro AWS Business Group, with the combined strengths of Wipro and AWS under one umbrella, will help reinforce our capabilities and support our clients in their innovation-led cloud journey from strategy to execution,” he said.
Last week, Wipro said it is set to acquire Encore Theme Technologies, a software-as-service (SaaS) and cloud solutions provider for the financial services sector, for upto $12.8 million.
