Wipro to expand IBM Hybrid Cloud Practice
Bengaluru-based information technology (IT) services major Wipro on Thursday said it will expand its IBM Hybrid Cloud Practice.
Supported by technical experts from both organisations, the practice is expected to help Wipro customers modernise their digital operations across hybrid cloud environments by leveraging IBM Cloud Paks, a containerised software running on Red Hat OpenShift, Wipro said in a statement.
It will also enable customers to innovate at scale by leveraging Wipro solutions, such as BoundaryLess Enterprise (BLE) and ModernizR. Both these solutions were built with IBM Cloud Paks on Red Hat OpenShift and can run in any cloud environment, including the IBM public cloud, the statement said.
“We believe the future will be driven by hybrid cloud hence, the expansion of IBM Hybrid cloud practice is intrinsic to our strategy. It will strengthen our relationship with IBM and help accelerate our clients’ transformation journey across hybrid cloud environments,” Bhanumurthy BM, president and COO of Wipro, said.
Bob Lord, senior vice president, cognitive applications and ecosystems at IBM, said that the expansion of their relationship with Wipro reinforces their joint commitment to help clients accelerate their journey to cloud across industries, including highly-regulated sectors such as financial services, energy and utilities, manufacturing and healthcare.
“Wipro’s industry knowledge, combined with IBM’s hybrid cloud and AI platform powered by Red Hat OpenShift, can help enterprises drive real business transformation by migrating and managing their critical workloads across an open hybrid cloud environment,” he said.
Wipro in July launched 5G-based edge computing services to help enterprises gain real-time visibility and data insights for infrastructure management. These solutions, which extended the company’s BLE - Universal Edge portfolio, were built with IBM Tririga and Edge Application Manager, which can leverage 5G network capabilities.
In June, IBM and Wipro partnered to develop hybrid cloud offerings to help businesses migrate, manage and transform mission-critical workloads across public or private cloud and on-premises IT environments. As part of the agreement, they also launched Wipro IBM Novus Lounge to accelerate client innovation and bring such industry-ready solutions from public and private clouds to the edge.
