Microsoft-owned code repository service Github aims to boost India’s position from the third largest market to the first, according to an Economic Times interview, citing the company’s India head Maneesh Sharma. Sharma took the position in February when GitHub opened its first office in the country. Sharma added that GitHub was doubling down on working with Indian startups and has built a sales team to target large startups, corporates and financial institutions in the country, as per the ET report.
Google files for CCI approval for stake buy in Jio Platforms
Search engine giant Google on Thursday moved the Competition Commission of India to get an all-clear for its $4.5 billion investment in Jio Platforms for a 7.73% stake and to manufacture a new smartphone in the country, as per an Economic Times report.
Chqbook launches mobile app to capture 1 mn customers
Online financial services aggregator Chqbook on Friday said it has launched its mobile app for small business owners such as grocery stores, merchants and chemists. The app, a statement said, brings together banking, lending, khata, insurance and rewards. The three-year-old startup, which last raised $5 million of institutional investment in March, aims to capture a million new customers through the app -- it currently has 300,000 users on its platform.
