Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance’s business continuity plan (BCP) sprung into full action within two days of the Covid-19 induced nationwide lockdown, chief information and digital officer Goutam Datta told TechCircle in an interview.
The company had to address critical factors such as computer requirements, last mile connectivity, network bandwidth, virtual private network needs, change in access methods and new communication channels to maintain business continuity.
Datta also shed light on the effect of the lockdown on insurance business, and how physical footfall reduction across the insurer’s offices led to increased digital interactions.
While online transactions increased by 30%, customer portal logins rose 73%, he said.
In the interview, the C-suite executive also spoke on Bajaj Allianz’s cybersecurity priorities as well as the company’s digital transformation journey, so far.
Prior to joining Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance in 2018, Datta, an IIM Calcutta graduate, worked at ICICI Lombard for about 14 years, among other work experiences, as per his LinkedIn profile.
