IT firm Riverbed Technology elevates Alex George as country manager for India

Information technology (IT) company Riverbed Technology has appointed Alex George as the country manager for India.

He is expected to manage sales and channels across South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries, the San Francisco headquartered company said in a statement.

George, who joined the company in February 2017, served as the head of sales for the western region in India before the promotion. 

“Our offering to customers has never been more integral in ensuring business continuity as our global workforce becomes remote. His deep expertise in network performance and visibility is extremely valued, particularly as customers look to Riverbed as a source of support and guidance through this time,” Richard Steranka, vice president of sales for Asia Pacific and Japan at the company, said.

With over 20 years of experience, George has skills spanning across channel management, sales management and business development, the statement said.

Prior to Riverbed, he was the regional sales manager for Hitachi Data Systems, and has worked with companies such as Sun Microsystems, Wipro Infotech and Smart Storage.

“We experienced significant growth this past year and I look forward to continuing to build on this momentum by ensuring local businesses are aware of Riverbed India’s capability to assist with any issues across the networking spectrum, catering to all workloads across on-prem, on cloud and SaaS applications,” George said.

He holds an engineering degree in electronics from Tiruchirappalli-based MIET Engineering College.

Founded in 2002, Riverbed has a presence in at least 39 cites, with 150 employees and a customer base of 1,200 globally.

Its sales, systems engineering, technical support, IT, and research and development (R&D) teams operate from India. It offers products such as software and hardware solutions for network performance monitoring and application performance management, as well as wide area networks, including SD-WAN and WAN optimisation.
