NEC appoints Aalok Kumar as CEO of its India unit
Tokyo-based NEC Corporation has appointed Aalok Kumar as the president and CEO for its India unit, NEC Technologies India.
Aalok Kumar has over 26 years of experience in senior leadership roles in business transformation, performance improvement, and margin expansion.
Prior to the current role, he served as the senior vice president of McKinsey & Company. He has also worked in companies like GE Healthcare, GE Capital and ABN Amro Bank.
“Aalok’s rich experience in business transformation and performance improvement, especially in Japan and other Asian markets, will help us accelerate our growth,” Akihiko Kumagai, president of the global business unit, NEC Corporation said in a statement.
The company has also elevated Takayuki Inaba, former chairman and MD, as executive chairman of NEC Technologies India, the statement added.
“This management restructuring exercise is aimed at accelerating our evolution in India. Capacity building in India will not only bolster our business in this country but also support our global businesses,” added Kumagai.
Established in 2005, NEC Technologies India provides product development, product maintenance and business services.
The company claims to have a workforce of over 6,000 local employees.
One of the important NEC projects in India includes the Chennai-Andaman submarine cable project, which will bridge the digital gap between Andaman and Nicobar Islands by ensuring speedy internet access.
In India, NEC Technologies has offices in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Noida, and Surat.
