Skoda Auto launches digital innovation hub in Pune
Carmaker Skoda Auto has launched its fourth global DigiLab unit in Pune to support its core businesses by developing digital and mobility solutions.
The Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic-based Skoda Auto has similar centres in Prague, Tel Aviv and Beijing.
In addition, Volkswagen IT Services India has set up a dedicated software development centre to support Skoda Auto’s IT requirements.
The Skoda Auto DigiLab India will focus on the core business of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited by developing digital and mobility solutions, while the software development centre will develop digital solutions.
VW IT Services India is the internal division of the Volkswagen Group offering digital solutions, application development and product innovation.
Skoda is also expected to join forces with technology companies and promising startups in the country to strengthen the country’s talent pool.
Both the companies are working on an India 2.0 project – a Skoda-led market strategy for the entire Volkswagen Group in the Indian market, the company said in a statement.

“In 2025, the average age of the population will be just 29. The majority of our customers in India have grown up with smartphones and expect tailor-made mobility services and seamless connectivity in the car. This is exactly what we are undertaking at our new DigiLab in partnership with local high-tech companies.” Bernhard Maier, CEO, Skoda Auto said.
