Watch: Nokia’s Randeep Raina on building India-specific solutions ahead of 5G rollout
Finnish telecom networking equipment major Nokia’s Bengaluru development center has lately been a hub of activity for 5G use cases, even as India readies to usher in the 5G era.
Meanwhile, the firm’s manufacturing facility in Chennai has started producing the 5G New Radio (NR) based on the 3GPP 5G New Radio Release 15 standard.
Recently the firm entered into a partnership with Vodafone Idea business services (VIBS), the enterprise arm of telecom major Vodafone Idea, to launch software-defined networking in a wide area network (SD-WAN) services for startups and enterprises.
At the recently concluded India Mobile Congress (IMC), Nokia showcased solutions for 5G use cases for India and new models that will go live with the launch of 5G.
Speaking to TechCircle on the sidelines of the conference, Randeep Raina, chief technology officer of Nokia spoke about how the company is positioned for 5G rollout and its use cases for the Indian market.
The central government is planning to conduct 5G spectrum auctions by the end of this year. Union minister for communications and information technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said at the event that reforms are expected in the pricing of the 5G spectrum.
