Tech Mahindra, Cisco deploy 5G-enabled Industry 4.0 solutions
Pune-based information technology services enterprise Tech Mahindra has launched a 5G-enabled end-to-end business and technology solution, jointly developed with American networking technology major Cisco Systems.
The solution will provide manufacturers with Industry 4.0 solutions to develop a factory of the future through network infrastructure assessment and consultancy services.
Features of the newly launched solution include factory-wide wireless networks leveraging 5G, cybersecurity support and a software-defined network spanning both the factory and the enterprise.
Industry 4.0 includes business and factory solutions that harness advanced technologies such as autonomous robots, Big Data and analytics, Virtual reality (VR)-driven simulations to test and optimise machines, cloud-enabled production systems and additive manufacturing such as 3D-printing.
“Factory equipment holds a great deal of meaningful data which is key to any successful Industry 4.0 project. Tech Mahindra’s solution in partnership with Cisco, will enable us to leverage this data and empower manufacturers to build factories of the future,” said Nilesh Auti, global head, manufacturing industry unit, Tech Mahindra.
“Tech Mahindra and Cisco have a 360-degree engagement for close to two decades. Industry 4.0 is a top focus area for us, and we are committed to delivering trusted business solutions to the manufacturing industry. The convergence of IT and OT (operational technology) is transforming the manufacturing industry. This partnership is uniquely positioned to help unite IT and operations for digital manufacturing initiatives while enhancing efficiency and increasing profitability for our customers,” said B Raghavendran, managing director, India and SAARC, Cisco.
In addition to the 5G-enabled technology solution, Tech Mahindra also announced the launch of the Internet of Things (IoT) sandbox.
The IoT sandbox is a product which helps users find the correct solution for industries in a wide variety of sectors such as industrial manufacturing, automotive, retail, healthcare, oil and gas.
The IoT sandbox, like the 5G-enabled solution, also aims to address Industry 4.0 goals. The IoT-driven solution has been launched with use cases in over 40 industrial IoT scenarios.
As part of its TechMNxt charter, Tech Mahindra is focused on collaborating with startups, academia and the workforce to develop solutions by leveraging next-generation technologies such as 5G and digital transformation initiatives.
In 2017, Tech Mahindra had launched its factory of the future centre at Bengaluru. The centre serves as a hub for showcasing assets and solutions in digital manufacturing, connected machines, robotic process automation (RPA), augmented reality (AR), VR, artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics.
