Govt-owned telecom equipment manufacturer ITI to offer cloud services
Indian Telephone Industries (ITI), a central government-owned manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, has launched cloud services and solutions platform for central and state government enterprises, banks, public sector undertakings, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups in India.
The platform will offer services that include infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), software-as-a-service (SaaS) and storage-as-a-service (STaaS), the company said in a statement.
ITI has partnered with Bengaluru-based IT services provider Connectivity IT Solutions to host cloud services at its data centre facility while CS will support cloud infrastructure, research and development (R&D) capabilities and technical manpower, the statement added.
“The new cloud service offered by ITI data centre is expected to provide end-to-end IT infrastructure including new-age cloud services to all its customers in the coming years. The initiative also exhibits ITI’s commitment to the government of India’s flagship initiatives like Digital India, Make in India and Smart City,” said K. Alagesan, chairman and managing director, ITI.
The company said its data centre is equipped to host, operate and administer an authentication portal with services like authentication user agency, authentication service agency and know your customer (KYC) service agency on the SaaS model.
The cloud services of ITI data centre will enable PSU banks, central and state government undertakings, multinational corporations (MNCs), corporates and large enterprises to have their data located within the country, it added.
“With the commoditisation of cloud, we can utilise ITI’s experience and make available the cloud services to the masses. CS is well equipped to deliver multi-cloud services efficiently with highly-skilled certified cloud professionals and by using our own cloud services automation and billing platform. We intend to work closely with major cloud providers and independent software vendors to drive cloud consumption. With digital transformation gradually becoming the norm for businesses, we intend to accelerate this transformation for our customers with our capabilities,” said Narasimha Murthy, managing director and chief executive officer, Connectivity Solutions.
