OLX ropes in former PropTiger executive to drive pre-owned cars marketplace

OLX India, the local arm of Naspers-backed online classifieds platform OLX, has signed on former PropTiger  executive Bhaskar Bagchi as general manager for its pre-owned cars marketplace Cash My Car. Bagchi will lead the India operations for the division, the company said in a statement.

Bagchi brings over 25 years of experience to the table in setting up and managing largescale operations across the ecommerce, banking and insurance, and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors. At PropTiger, the Accel and SAIF Partners backed property search platform, Bagchi is credited with taking the platform to operational break-even during his stint there.

Prior to PropTiger, Bagchi, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, worked at companies such as BPO firm IBM Daksh, property search platform IndiaHomes, Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank.

“Our aggressive growth and penetration strategy will now be spearheaded by Bhaskar (Bagchi), who is a seasoned leader with a great wealth of experience in the service industry,” said Sushil Kumar, general manager, OLX India.

Globally, OLX Cash My Car is a joint venture with Berlin-based Frontier Car Group, a startup that builds and operates automotive marketplaces. In May last year, OLX Ventures, the OLX Group’s early stage investment arm, had invested $89 million in Frontier Car Group as part of its Series C funding round.

Cash My Car currently has a presence in 10 cities in India through 50 retail centers and aims to expand its presence to 40 cities and 150 centers by 2021.

Earlier this month, OLX India had appointed Matrix Atlantic Capital director Sapna Arora as its chief marketing officer.
