KT Corporation ties up with Amdocs for 5G monetisation solution
South Korea-based telephone company KT Corporation has partnered with US-headquartered software services provider Amdocs to launch and monetise innovative 5G services for end consumers and enterprises, a company statement said.
As part of the deal, KT Corporation will use Amdocs’ service monetisation and convergent charging solution for 5G commercial services it launched recently.
“The future is here and live, with KT becoming one of the pioneers in 5G commercialisation with faster data rates and an array of compelling services that lead the market,” said Anthony Goonetilleke, group president of media, network and technology, Amdocs, in the statement.
Amdocs’ had initially deployed its solution to support KT’s 4G services.
“With 5G supporting new types of services such as e-sports streaming, high-speed online gaming, and augmented and virtual reality services and apps, service providers need to quickly develop new use cases, launch and monetise them to attract consumers by delivering an experience which is unprecedented,” Goonetilleke said
He further added that the monetisation and service relationship for service providers demands more flexibility in payment mechanisms, bundling, loyalty, third-party packaging, advertising and other innovative customer engagement initiatives.
Amdocs, which is listed on the NASDAQ, offers its software services to companies operating in communications, media and financial services as well as digital enterprises.
It clocked revenue of $4.0 billion in fiscal 2018.
