Watch: Why electrical goods maker Havells has adopted a cloud-first mantra
Electrical goods manufacturer Havells India Ltd has been using a combination of frontier technologies such as cloud, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation (RPA), analytics and Internet of Things (IoT) to forge ahead in its digital transformation journey.
Speaking to TechCircle on the sidelines of the 7 Digital Dialogues Summit, Havells executive vice president and group chief information officer (CIO) Sachin Gupta said that the company had adopted a cloud-first strategy keeping in mind efficiency, cost and deployment.
He also said that Havells had started acquiring data internally and from consumers to gain business insights which can be used to transform divisions inside the company.
The Noida-based firm, which makes electrical products such as switches and wires besides a host of consumer appliances, is also looking at introducing industrial internet of things (IIoT) in the manufacturing division and has started collecting data from machines to plan predictive maintenance.
In addition, Havells is planning to increase the use of technology in the supply chain division to build a smart inventory management system.
The company is also using augmented reality in its digital catalogues to boost customer experience, the CIO added.
