Amazon rolls out India audio book service in beta
Amazon has launched the beta version of its audio book service Audible in India, with the subscription starting at Rs 199 per month and a free trial period for a month.
By downloading the Audible app for iOS and Android, customers can listen to more than 200,000 books, including Indian titles.
Amazon's Prime customers will enjoy a 90-day trial period. Customers can also integrate their Alexa devices with the app and listen to the books through Wi-Fi connected speakers.
Subscribers can opt for six-month and 12-month plans at Rs 1,345 and Rs 2,332, respectively.
The main categories on the Audible website are mysteries and thrillers, romance, fiction, sci-fi and fantasy, and self-development.
Audible lets its customers choose the speed of narration, enjoy offline access and even keep a sleep timer. Customers can also listen to books on tablets or computers. Globally, the service is offered for more than 425,000 books and in languages like English, Mandarin and Spanish.
Audible, founded in 1995 by Don Katz in Newark, US, was acquired by Amazon in 2008.
