Dassault Systèmes shifts India biz to the cloud, sees potential for electric vehicles
French software services and solutions company Dassault Systèmes will move its entire portfolio of products for the India market to the cloud and will run it on a subscription model, it said on Tuesday at a press conference in Delhi.
Shifting the India business to the cloud holds a lot of potential for electric vehicles production and manufacturing of related components, Sylvain Laurent, executive vice president, Dassault Systèmes said.
“Global customers use cloud to shift towards digital hyper connectivity of people, organisations and objects via the Internet, mobile and Internet of Things. In India, we see a lot of potential in cloud adoption in the Electric Vehicle (EV) and components segment supporting the EV roadmap,” Laurent said.
The cloud will give Dassault’s customers in India instant access to its 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which offers applications in 3D design, engineering, modelling, simulation, data management and process management; social communication, community building and ideation for collaborative innovation; 3D visualisation, analytics and dashboarding for knowledge sharing and data-driven decision-making for communities.
“The Dassault Systèmes cloud offering is the largest cloud solution portfolio with 250 roles for every stage of the value stream. Secondly, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides a single point of access and common interface for all applications and enables all business units to engage in collaborative innovation,” Prasanta Kr Das, vice president, Dassault Systèmes India, said.
He also said that the new cloud offerings will cater to companies across aerospace and defence, automotive original equipment manufacturers and suppliers, industrial engineering, education and retail sectors.
Last year, the company had acquired a majority stake in French enterprise-class cloud services company Outscale.
Dassault Systèmes has also partnered with Indian firms such as Bangalore-based General Aeronautics (GA) to develop next-generation design methods for unmanned air vehicle (UAV) systems. Kolhapur-based Engineering Technologies is another automotive part supplier that has partnered with the company to deploy the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud for effective project management.
