Reshuffle continues at Flipkart as 3 more top-level execs resign

Two days after Flipkart appointed investor Tiger Global's former executive Kalyan Krishnamurthy as its new CEO, three top management executives are reportedly leaving the company.

According to a report by The Economic Times on Wednesday, Flipkart's supply chain arm Ekart's head Saikiran Krishnamurthy, senior vice president and head of product Surojit Chatterjee and chief marketing officer Samardeep Subandh have resigned from the company.

An email sent to Flipkart seeking confirmation didn't elicit a response immediately.

On Monday, apart from appointing Kalyan Krishnamurthy its new CEO, Flipkart had named co-founder and CEO Binny Bansal group CEO in a major organisational rejig.

It also appointed chief administrative officer Nitin Seth as COO and head of logistics arm Ekart, replacing Saikiran Krishnamurthy. That had left Krishnamurthy without a defined role at India's biggest e-commerce firm.

Krishnamurthy is a former director at consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

Chatterjee, who is an active angel investor, used to work for Google in the US.

Subandh, who was heading categories as well as marketing, had joined the Bengaluru-based firm in December 2015 from fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Marico Ltd.

Flipkart and its subsidiaries—Myntra and Jabong—have seen many executives leave in the recent past.

Last week, Techcircle had reported about senior-level exits from Flipkart and Myntra.

The list included Myntra's supply chain head and senior vice president Rajul Jain, who was one of the cofounders of lifestyle e-tailer Yebhi.com. Sharad Agarwal, vice president and distinguished engineer at Flipkart who was heading data strategy, and Raghuram Talluri, vice president and head of customer experience at Myntra, also left the company in December.

Flipkart's CFO Sanjay Baweja had quit in October last year.

In November last year, fashion marketplace Jabong's chief marketplace officer and head of human resources had quit the firm, just three months after it was bought out by Flipkart's fashion and lifestyle brand Myntra.

The company also saw several other high-profile departures in 2016. Early last year, for instance, its chief product officer Punit Soni had resigned without specifying any reason, just after a year of joining. In another high-profile departure, Mukesh Bansal, head of marketplace and a board member, and chief business officer Ankit Nagori had resigned in February last year.
