After Flipkart, now Amazon sees top-level exits in India

Two top-level executives at US-based e-tailer Amazon.com Inc's India subsidiaries quit in December 2016.

Kinjal Choudhary, senior director and country head of human resources at Amazon India, and Projesh Kundu, director of operations at Amazon Logistics, left the company in November 2016, their LinkedIn profiles show.

While Kundu is now heading operations at Bangalore-based online classifieds site Quikr, Choudhary's next move remains unknown. His LinkedIn profile shows the current organisation as 'Confidential' and he couldn't be immediately contacted.

"With the growth of Amazon India, we have continued to add people and resources across multiple roles and locations to support this rapid and immense business ramp-up. We have not seen any exits at our leadership level. As is natural in any large organisation, there have also been some who moved on to pursue opportunities outside the company," an Amazon India spokesperson said in an emailed response to TechCircle.in.

The development was first reported by The Economic Times on Friday.

Prior to joining Amazon, Choudhary worked in human resources in PepsiCo, ITC Infotech, Hindustan Unilever and ITC Ltd while Kundu had stints at Britannia Industries, ITC Ltd, Tiffany Foods, Kellogg India and Agni Energy.

On Thursday, TechCircle.in reported that Amazon's India rival Flipkart saw senior-level exits at both the flagship marketplace as well as subsidiary online fashion retailer Myntra. The list included Myntra's supply chain head and senior vice president Rajul Jain, who was one of the cofounders of lifestyle e-tailer Yebhi.com. Sharad Agarwal, vice president and distinguished engineer at Flipkart who was heading data strategy, and Raghuram Talluri, vice president and head of customer experience at Myntra, also left the company in December 2016.

A few top-level executives had quit Amazon last year as well.

Manpreet Ratia, who was director and head of last-mile logistics at Amazon India, joined Myntra as chief people officer and head of new initiatives in June. In February 2016, Amazon India's public policy head Lizum Mishra quit the firm.
