Oxigen partners with eBay for assisted retail
Payment solution provider Oxigen Services has got into a partnership with online marketplace eBay India, according to a press statement.
This association will help Oxigen Services customers access over 100 million product listings on www.ebay.in. Under this association, Oxigen brings a unique O2O solution (Online to Offline) which integrates customer on boarding for eBay India with Mobile Wallet Payments solution.
With this partnership, a customer can walk into an Oxigen enabled outlet spread across metro, tier I, II and III cities besides over 25,000 rural locations, view the variety of products listed on ebay.in through a PC or a smartphone and place an order.
"Our partnership with Oxigen will not only help us penetrate deeper into the tier 2 and tier 3 markets, it will also offer consumers an opportunity to shop from a wide range of products and deals available on eBay India through an assisted shopping mechanism," said Latif Nathani, VP and MD of eBay India.
Ebay India claims to have over 100 million products listed across technology, lifestyle, media and collectibles categories.
"The current demonetization environment is a boon for this partnership as Oxigen has the ability to help in depositing cash in old currency notes using Aadhaar identity through its Micro ATMs. All this augers well for our partnership," said Pramod Saxena, chairman and managing director of Oxigen Services India Pvt. Ltd.
Oxigen was founded in 2004 by Saxena, along with South African firm Blue Label Telecom as a mobile recharge business. In August 2014, it launched Oxigen Wallet that allows users to transfer money, recharge their mobile, DTH or data packs, pay phone and utility bills. It also offers gift cards for about 60 brands. The wallet also allows users to send and receive money through Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and e-mail. Customers earn loyalty points that can be redeemed as cash into the wallet or as PayBack points. Oxigen Wallet claims to have 25 million users at present.
In the mobile wallets segment, the company competes with MobiKwik, FreeCharge, and Udio, with Paytm as the market leader.
Yesterday, Paytm had said that it is witnessing over 7 million transactions worth Rs 120 crore a day, helping it cross $5 billion GMV sales, post the demonetization move and the resulting cash crunch.
