Four apps that can help you save on phone bills

Mubble: Mubble was founded in 2013 by Ashwin Ramaswamy, Pranav Jha and Raghavendra Verma. The company is backed by Nandan Nilekani and Accel Partners. The Android app which has 1 million downloads on Google Play Store assists prepaid mobile users to curtail unexpected balance deductions by generating something similar to an itemised usage bill on the handset itself. It intimates users of charges incurred after every call, SMS or data session and saves that information on the device for future reference. It provides the users with notifications on low data balance and rate pack expiry. It also advises users on various recharge packs within the app.
True Balance: This Android app was launched in September 2014 by Korean entrepreneur Charlie (Cheolwon) Lee. The Android app has been downloaded 5 million times on Google Play Store. The app allows prepaid Android smartphone users to check balance, call logs and data packs. It also offers a recharge services within the app. The app notifies users on balance and expiry dates of data pack, call pack, main balance etc. It also allows users to track apps which eat MBs in the background. In March 2016, SoftBank Ventures Korea, part of Japanese internet conglomerate SoftBank Corp, had made an undisclosed amount of investment in a Series A round of funding in the Gurgaon-based startup.
Smartapp: The company was founded by Deepak Abbott in December 2015 and incubated at Times Internet. The Android app analyses users' outgoing, incoming, STD, 3G Internet, roaming activities. Based on the usage, the app finds users best online recharge plans and recharge offers. The app also lets users track WiFi usage and also lets users test network speed with smart speed test. The apps also creates combo plans for users which includes both data and talktime apart from offering basic recharge options. The app currently has 1 million downloads on Google Play Store.
BillBachao: The app enables users to find a prepaid or postpaid tariff plan best suited to their needs. It gives operator recommendations based on usage and location profile. BillBachao was started in March 2014 by Vodafone India's former senior vice president Jonathan Bill and OnMobile co-founder Arvind Rao. Bill exited the company in May 2015. It also allows the users to recharge and pay bills within the app and offers cashback. The app has been downloaded 1 million times on Google Play Store.
