Yuvraj Singh-backed health-tech startup Healthians.com raises Series A funding
Expedient Healthcare Marketing Pvt. Ltd, which runs online diagnostics and wellness startup Healthians.com, said on Monday it has raised $3 million (Rs 20 crore) in a Series A round led by venture capital fund Beenext.
Japanese Internet company Digital Garage and Japanese e-commerce and investment firm Beenos, among others, also participated in this funding round, Healthians said in a statement.
The company had raised its seed round from YouWeCan Ventures, an early-stage venture fund floated by cricketer Yuvraj Singh, in June 2015. In 2014, the company had raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from healthcare-focused startup accelerator Healthstart.
Founded in 2014 by Deepak Sahni, Healthians helps users discover affordable healthcare by aggregating diagnostic labs, crowd-sourced sample collectors and nearby doctors. It also makes patients' medical records available online.
The company aims to add over 200 labs and 3,000 phlebotomists to its existing network across 30 cities over the next 12-18 months, the statement said. Healthians.com said it is getting more than 1,000 booking requests every day from Delhi/NCR.
The company aims to achieve 500,000 monthly sample load by the end of 2017. It collected over 30,000 samples last month.
"Diagnostics is a huge market in India and has room for many more players. Healthian's unique model with focus on quality, cost and customer experience is highly scalable and expandable to other markets," said Teruhide Sato, founder and managing partner, Beenext.
Beenext, Digital Garage and Beenos have been active investors in India in the past months. In June, they invested in online marketplace for used automobiles Droom.
Other heavily funded healthcare startups that also aggregate diagnostics labs apart from offering other services include Practo Technologies and Lybrate.
