Myntra appoints Wipro exec Dipanjan Basu as CFO
Flipkart-owned fashion e-tailer Myntra said on Thursday it has hired Dipanjan Basu from software services firm Wipro Ltd as its chief financial officer.
Basu was the CFO and chief operating officer at Wipro's digital and consulting business. He will join Myntra on 17 October, the company said in a statement.
A chartered accountant, Basu has previously worked with Quatrro Risk Management Services. "His skills and expertise in finance and operations will be of immense value to Myntra, especially at this juncture as we scale our business to meet ambitious targets," said Myntra CEO Ananth Narayanan. Basu's appointment comes after Prabhakar Sunder quit the position in March to join as the CFO of Myntra's competitor Voonik.
This is the second top-level appointment at Myntra in four months; the company had hired former Amazon India executive Manpreet Ratia as chief people officer and head of new initiatives in June.
Over the past year, the company has also beefed up its products team. It hired former Housetrip.com executive Sharath Bulusu as vice president of products, former FreeCharge executive Ravdeep Chawla as chief of staff and products, former Xiaomi executive Mangesh Dalvi as associate vice president of product management, former eBay executive Sumit Borar as associate vice president of data sciences and former Open Table executive Aditya Singh as associate vice president, products.
Myntra shuffled its senior management team after Binny Bansal took over as Flipkart's CEO early this year. Ananth Naryanan was appointed as CEO while Mukesh Bansal, founder and CEO of Myntra, was made head of commerce platform at Flipkart. However, Mukesh Bansal later quit Flipkart and is gearing up to launch a sports, health and fitness startup along with Ankit Nagori, former chief business officer at Flipkart. Flipkart restructured its own management team in August.
In July, Myntra bought rival Jabong from Global Fashion Group for $70 million (Rs 470 crore) in cash.
