Twitter Asia chief Shailesh Rao resigns
Twitter Inc's Asia chief Shailesh Rao has quit the microblogging platform after a four-year stint.
Rao, vice president for Asia Pacific, Latin America and emerging markets at Twitter, announced his departure via a tweet. He will be with Twitter through July.
Rao said it was time for him to seek new challenges. But he didn't specify why he resigned and whether he is joining another company or starting his own venture. He didn't respond to TechCircle queries by the time of filing this report.
Rao joined Twitter in 2012 as its vice president for international revenue. An MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Rao worked for seven years at tech giant Google in various capacities before joining Twitter. At Google, he last served as the vice president of media, mobile and platform for the Asia Pacific region. Earlier, he had worked at data aggregation and data analytics platform Yodlee and media and tech company AOL Inc.
This is at least the second senior-level exit at Twitter this month. Stephen McIntyre, vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa business, announced his decision to quit Twitter and join venture capital firm Frontline Ventures.
Other top Indian-origin tech executives who have resigned recently include Nikesh Arora, who quit as SoftBank Group's president and chief operating officer in June, and Kirthiga Reddy, who stepped down as Facebook's managing director of Indian operations in February after a six-year stint.
