Can LeEco's new devices recreate the success of Le 1s?

Chinese smartphone maker LeEco on Wednesday took the wraps off its latest devices that go on sale in India after it tasted success with its first handset.

The company rolled out its flagship Le Max 2 and the Le 2 smartphone, the successor to the successful Le 1s. This comes after the company said month that it sold 500,000 Le 1s handsets in India.

The Le Max 2 carries the price tag of a mid-range smartphone but its specifications could give even the likes of Apple iPhone 6S plus and Samsung S7 Edge a run for their money. It will also compete with the likes of Xiaomi Mi 5 and the soon-to-be-launched OnePlus 3.

The device is available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants. The company claims the phone is 40% faster than any smartphone in the market.

The Le Max 2 costs Rs 22,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant and Rs 29,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant.

The Le 2 has a 5.5-inch display and 3GB of RAM. It has been priced at Rs 11,999, which means it will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Motorola's Moto G4 Plus.

The company has become the first one to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack in these devices. It has introduced a 'Type-C Audio' interface and also unveiled compatible headphones that cost Rs 1,990.

Both devices will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and the company claims its quick charge technology can provide 3.5 hours of battery life in just five minutes. The Le Max 2 goes on sale on 28 June on Flipkart and lemall.com, with registrations beginning on 20 June.
