Six sports startups that have found fans in investors
Till now, cricket has been the money-spinning sport in India, attracting fans, advertisers and investors. But with the rise of sports leagues across football, badminton, tennis, kabaddi and boxing, Indians are discovering their enthusiasm for different sports. Not just as fans cheering professional sportspersons, they are now trooping into the field to play their own game. And in their wake, has sprung up a crop of startups that bring stadia, coaches and equipment closer to the ordinary citizen. In fact, former Flipkart executive Ankit Nagori is gearing up to launch his startup, which brings together sports, health and fitness. Unlike other sectors, sports-tech startups in India have not attracted much investment, but entry of popular names such as Nagori could see more investors backing such ventures.
