His own man
Punit Soni was touted as Flipkart's most prized catch when he joined the e-commerce company in February 2015 as chief product officer. As a Silicon Valley veteran, he had worked as vice president in Google's Motorola mobility division and advisor at Google for around nine years. However, when a reshuffle in the top management team in January this year left Soni's position in Flipkart unchanged, speculation started about his future in the company. Finally in April, Soni announced that he had quit the company. In an interview to VCCircle, Soni said: "Over the last year of being here I have come to realise I have a particular way of doing things, there is a kind of organisation and company I want to be in." Soni is now an angel investor and is planning to start his own venture in the Valley. Soni's exit followed the resignations of Mukesh Bansal, head of marketplace and a board member, and chief business officer Ankit Nagori who resigned in February.
