Practo appoints ex-InMobi exec Manish Dugar as global CFO
Bangalore-based health-tech startup Practo Technologies Pvt. Ltd has appointed former InMobi executive Manish Dugar as its global chief financial officer (CFO).
Dugar will head Practo's financial legal and regulatory operations and will be part of the company's leadership team.
"His deep domain experience and proven financial leadership will be critical. He will also be instrumental in preparing the organisation to rapidly scale our various businesses across diverse geographies where Practo operates," said ND Shashank, CEO, Practo, said in a statement.
Earlier, in an interview to Techcircle.in, Shashank told that Practo was constantly on the lookout for talents that can help build their operations.
In July 2015, Practo had appointed Anshumani Ruddra as the vice-president of its products vertical and Tarun Bhambra as the business head of its pharmacy, diagnostics, fitness and wellness verticals.
An IIM-Kolkata alumni, Dugar served as the CFO of Bangalore and San Francisco-based mobile advertising startup InMobi prior to his new assignment. Earlier, he was group CFO at RPG Enterprises and has also had a 10-year stint with Wipro Technologies in various roles.
"The products have tremendous scale with millions of users and hundreds of thousands of healthcare providers on the platform. The solution and approach to solving the healthcare problem is unique globally," said Dugar.
This is the first time that Practo has appointed a CFO, a company spokesperson told Techcircle.in.
Practo, which has raised over $120 million, has been on an aggressive expansion mode, launching operations in several markets, both in India and overseas. It also made three acquisitions last year – hospital information management solution provider Insta Health Solutions Pvt Ltd, web and app-based fitness management platform FithoWellness and product outsourcing firm Genii Technologies Pvt Ltd.
Practo has also recently forayed into online delivery of medicines, e-consultation and beauty and wellness. Earlier, Shashank had told VCCircle/Techcircle.in that the startup will launch new products for consumers, doctors, clinics, diagnostic centres, pharmacies, wellness and fitness over the course of this year.
Founded in 2008 by Shashank and Abhinav Lal, Practo offers services such as helping patients find relevant doctors online, comparing them and scheduling appointments. It also sells PractoRay, an application which enables doctors to schedule and manage patient records under a software as a service (SaaS) model for primary clinics and hospitals.
With the recent launch of its services in Brazil, Practo is now present in 15 countries. In India, Practo plans to expand its operations to 100 cities from 35 at present by the end of this year.
