Now, one can book a cab without internet or GPS, claims ixigo
Travel search engine ixigo.com has launched a new feature on its cab booking app that allows users to book the nearest available cab by tapping a button on their phone without a stable internet connection.
Le Travenues Technology Pvt. Ltd, which runs ixigo.com, says its cab-booking feature will work in places without a stable internet connection, such as airports, railway stations, bus stations and even while the user is en route to the destination.
"It takes at least 20 seconds to book a cab on any of the existing cab apps. With 1-Tab cab booking, we allow users to book their nearest cab in just three seconds by tapping and holding a button on their home screen and this feature works even without internet and GPS," says ixigo co-founder and CTO Rajnish Kumar.
The feature is currently available for Android users.
Ixigo says it is using a combination of intelligence about the user's location through existing PNR confirmations on his/her phone and SMS when the internet connection doesn't work to book a cab for the user.
The app also prompts the users prior to starting their journey and send an alert when they are about to reach or have reached their destination.
Currently, Ixigo cab app directly allows users to search and book from multiple app-based cab providers, including Ola, TaxiForSure, EasyCabs and Jugnoo, among others.
