Exclusive: Online platform for doctors HealthKumbh gets seed funding
MD Technovation Pvt Ltd, which runs an online platform HealthKumbh that helps doctors, clinics and hospitals network with peers and people, has raised Rs 50 lakh ($73,000) in seed funding from Ahmedabad-based angel investor, its founder and CEO Maulik Darji told VCCircle.
The angel investor Dipul Patel is an entrepreneur and investor, who runs own chemical manufacturing units and invests in businesses in Gujarat, the company said.
The healthcare startup, which was founded in 2014, also aims to raise Rs 10 crore ($1.49 million) in six to eight months.
The funds raised from the angel investor will be used for product development and also for tapping the local market in Ahmedabad and surrounding cities, the company added.
HealthKumbh enables doctors to share content related to physical and mental well-being in the form of images, article and videos. It also shares ideas and opinions about trending healthcare topics.
Other social networking ventures for medical professionals include PlexusMD, Curofy and DocPlexus.
While PlexusMD raised an undisclosed amount in funding from Patni family scion Arihant Patni last month, DocPlexus and Curofy raised funds last year.
DocPlexus secured about $700,000 in seed funding from Uniqorn Ventures and Austria-based ASP Consulting. Gurgaon-based doctors networking app Curofy raised an undisclosed amount in pre-Series A funding from US venture capital firm RoundGlass Partners.
Maulik Darji, a doctor turned entrepreneur, has earlier worked with another Ahmedabad-based healthcare startup Medivisha Health Care Services Pvt Ltd, according to his LinkedIn profile.
