Media portal India.com elevates Sandeep Amar as CEO
India Web Portal Ltd (IWPL), which runs India.com and a slew of other online news media properties, has promoted Sandeep Amar as chief executive officer, a company spokesperson said.
Amar has been associated with India.com for over two years and previously worked as the company's chief operating officer.
India.com's erstwhile chief was Debashish Ghosh, who also serves as CEO of Zee Digital Convergence Ltd. India.com is a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.
Before joining India.com, Amar founded Pikboo.com, an online portal that helps parents in tracking the internet life of their children. Amar has also served The Times Group, Hindustan Times, Zee Telefilms and Citigroup in various capacities.
The India.com network claims to be the country's third largest media network after Times Internet and Network 18. It runs a slew of digital properties including Thehealthsite.com, Bollywoodlife.com, Cricketcountry.com, Zeenews.com, DNAindia.com and BGR.in.
The online media firm is looking to acquire 2-3 firms in the healthcare and technology content domains this year.
India.com's parent is looking to induct a strategic investor to fund its inorganic growth ambitions.
The company claims that India.com generates 30 million page views every month. According to Comscore data, it gets 2.5 million unique visitors every month.
