Crowdfunding startup BitGiving raises angel investment
Crowdfunding platform BitGiving has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Wazir Advisors founder and managing director Harminder Sahni, Capillary Technologies co-founder Krishna Mehra, Impulse Marketing's co-founder Sanjay Bakshi among others.
The funds will be used for ramping up the team, product development and marketing.
In the coming months, the startup will be launching BitGiving 2.0, which focuses on building a more connected community and enhances campaign engagement.
The Delhi-based startup, run by HuddleTech Services Pvt Ltd, helps individuals and organisations raise funds for entrepreneurial, creative and social projects. Its campaigns have been backed by industry leaders such as Anand Mahindra and celebrities such as Soha Ali Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Gul Panag.
The startup was co-founded by Delhi University alumni Ishita Anand and Fahad Moti Khan in 2013. While Anand is a former film maker, Khan is a serial entrepreneur who has founded Zilzar, BitGifting, Khana and Technology 9 Labs.
Other crowdfunding platforms in India include LetsVenture, IgniteIntent, Milaap, Ketto, and FundMyPitch, among others. Ketto, which is co-founded by actor Kunal Kapoor, had raised Rs 4.4 crore ($700,000) in an angel investment round led by one of its existing investors Pradyumna Dalmia, co-founder of Calcutta Angels and Sudhir Rao, deal champion of The Chennai Angels & co-founder of IndusAge Partners, and others.
In January 2015, Random Motion Advertising Pvt Ltd, which runs crowdfunding platform Wishberry, raised $650,000 in seed funding from investors co-led by Google India's MD Rajan Anandan and iSPIRT's Sharad Sharma.
