Vishal Maheshwari to head Vuclip's India operations
Vuclip Inc, which offers video-on-demand services in emerging markets, has appointed Vishal Maheshwari as country manager, India. Prior to this Maheshwari was Yahoo India director.
Maheshwari joins the company at a time when Vuclip is all set to launch a new over-the-top (OTT) video streaming service in India.
At Vuclip, Maheshwari responsibilities include driving consumer adoption, engagement and monetisation through strategic partnerships, service innovation and consumer insights.
"With India in digital overdrive, creative thinking, fleet-footedness and focused execution are required to win over consumers' hearts, minds and devices. Maheshwari's leadership, consumer centric thought process, passion for product and brand, and value creation for partners will lead Vuclip and this entire industry in India," said Arun Prakash, COO, Vuclip in an official communique.
Maheshwari joins Vuclip with over 15 years of experience in the telecom and mobile internet space, having worked in organisations such as Yahoo India and BPL Mobile, and 10 years of product and brand management experience at Parle, Warner Lambert and SBI Cards.
Founded by Nickhil Jakatdar, Vuclip operates in six countries. Besides its video streaming services via its Android-based mobile video app, Vuclip also offers free, unbuffered mobile video through its mobile website m.vuclip.com. Vuclip claims to have a free user base of 20 million in India. It also claims to have a paid subscriber base in excess of five million people in India.
