OnlineRTI raises angel funding from Mohandas Pai, others
Bengaluru-based OnlineRTI, a platform to file Right to Information (RTI) applications, has secured an undisclosed amount in a round of angel funding from a group of investors as well as online deal making platform LetsVenture, according to a press release.
Investors who participated in this round included TV Mohandas Pai, chairman of Manipal Global Education; Nipun Goyal, president of IIFL; Bhupen Shah, co-founder of Sling Media; Shanti Mohan, CEO of LetsVenture; and Oliphans Capital.
Pai had joined the platform in October as an adviser and investor, along with Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons.
The funding raised would be mainly used for outreach and to increase awareness about RTI, it said in the statement.
"The mass adoption of the internet economy is having a transformative impact within India and OnlineRTI is leveraging that to simplify the process of filing RTI applications. They are raising funds on LetsVenture for the second time," LetsVenture chief executive Shanti Mohan said.
Earlier, the startup had raised over Rs 50 Lakh ($7,00,000) from a clutch of investors via LetsVenture.
Founded in 2014 by Pradeep Bhatt and Vinod Ranganathan, OnlineRTI allows people to file RTI applications online. It has an interface to send RTI applications to central and state government departments. One can file RTI applications through its Android app too.
The platform currently has about 120,000 RTI applications. About 40,000 applications have been processed while the rest is pending as the customers have not made payments.
