Snapdeal ropes in former P&G executive Amit Choudhary as senior VP - corporate finance
E-commerce marketplace Snapdeal, run by Delhi-based Jasper Infotech Pvt Ltd, has roped in former Procter & Gamble (P&G) executive Amit Choudhary as its senior vice president - corporate finance. This is the latest in a series of top level appointments by Snapdeal in the past 12 months.
"As we continue to grow at a rapid pace, it is important for us to build a world-class finance organisation. Snapdeal is a pioneer in the e-commerce industry in setting financial processes and following best practices in corporate governance. We believe that with his experience and expertise Amit will propel us further on our growth trajectory with stronger, more efficient and transparent financial planning and management," Kunal Bahl, co-founder and CEO of Snapdeal, said in a press statement.
Choudhary will be responsible for driving overall controls in finance, FP&A and taxation at the group level, Snapdeal said.
Choudhary had served as regional finance head for P&G's Asia pet care business in 14 countries, including Japan, Greater China and Australia. At P&G, he was responsible for leading strategy development and execution for short- and long- term goals, decision making on key aspects, go to market planning, pricing and spending strategy, portfolio management and fiscal management. Before joining P&G, he worked with JPMorgan Chase Investment Bank and Arthur Andersen.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Choudhary was founder of Oakwood Consulting. He also had a short stint as COO of a startup in the 3D printing space.
Snapdeal, which competes with the likes of Flipkart and Amazon, has been on a hiring spree of late. The company had recently roped in two senior level executives from Bharti Airtel, namely Anand Chandrasekaran who was appointed as chief product officer in early June, and Jayant Sood who came in as chief customer experience officer.
Before that, Snapdeal appointed Gaurav Gupta as VP of engineering, Jeyandran Venugopal from Yahoo as technology advisor and Bhuvan Gupta as VP - engineering.
Snapdeal also roped in Vivek Patankar as senior vice president - finance from Unilever to replace its former CTO Aakash Moondhra, who quit the company in February.
