Mobile marketplace for beauty & wellness services Vyomo raises funding from TaxiForSure co-founder

VCCircle_Vyomo_0Bangalore-based Vyomo Pte. Ltd., which runs a beauty and wellness platform, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding led by TaxiForSure co-founder Aprameya Radhakrishna.

Few investors from Singapore and GCC countries have also pumped in money, the company said in a press statement, without giving details.

Vyomo will use the money to improve service, customer experience and expand its team, it said.

Radhakrishna had previously invested in Bangalore-based Tsepak Technologies Pvt. Ltd (which runs instant messaging app GoodBox) and foodtech startup Dazo (previously called Tapcibo).

Founded in June 2014 by London Business School alumni Abhinav Khare and Poonam Marwah, Vyomo connects people with stylists and salon chains through its mobile app. Users will be able to search based on their current location, discover salons and spas, compare prices, read customer reviews and also book services. While Khare has over a decade's experience in strategy and corporate development, Marwah has over 16 years of experience in internet marketing and technology.

Vyomo aims to bring more than one million stylists on its platform by 2017.

In April, cricketer Yuvraj Singh had also invested an undisclosed amount in Vyomo through his startup fund Youwecan Ventures.

Of late, India's beauty and wellness (B&W) industry has seen a lot of investor action. A PricewaterhouseCoopers report estimates the country's B&W sector to be worth Rs 1 lakh crore this year.

In January, Mumbai-based Manash Lifestyle Pvt Ltd, the company behind Purplle.com, secured an undisclosed amount in Series A funding from early-to-growth stage VC firm IvyCap Ventures.
