Microsoft Launches Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL dual-SIM phones in India

IT giant Microsoft which got into the mobile handsets business by acquiring the consumer products division of Nokia to push its own mobile operating system while expanding its own devices business has officially launched Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL dual SIM smartphones in India.

While Lumia 640 comes with a price tag of Rs 11,999 the more feature rich version comes for Rs 15,799. Lumia 640 is available exclusively on online marketplace Flipkart while Lumia 640 XL will be sold both online and offline retail stores across all the channels.

Now featuring the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1 with the Lumia Denim update out-of-the-box, Lumia 640 XL and 640 are upgradable to Windows 10 when it becomes available later this year.

Microsoft is bundling a free one year subscription to Office 365 with the smartphones. The subscription offer will enable full Office use on the Lumia handsets, which can also be used on one tablet and one PC/Mac. In addition, the smartphones comes with 1 Terabyte of OneDrive storage facility.

The handsets are powered with quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processors, clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage, which is expandable via microSD card up to 128GB.

The Lumia 640 features with 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, an 8 megapixel camera, and HD 0.9 MP wide angle front camera. It sports a 2500mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM smartphone features a larger 5.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and comes with a 13 MP camera with ZEISS optics, a 5 MP front facing camera, and packs a 3,000 mAh battery.

The smartphones are equipped with a host of Microsoft popular features and apps including Cortana, Skype, Office, Outlook and OneDrive. The launch also comes with a special offer from MobiKwik and Ola on both the handsets, only valid if purchased till June.
