Jabong appoints Sachin Sinha as its CTO
Rocket Internet-incubated lifestyle e-tailer Jabong.com has appointed Sachin Sinha as its chief technology officer (CTO). In his new role, Sachin will lead the technology initiatives for the company.
Based in Bangalore, he replaces former CTO Harsh Kundra, who had left the company in January this year to join Tolexo Online Pvt Ltd, the company that owns and operates Tolexo.com, an e-commerce marketplace for business goods and supplies, as its co-founder and head of product & technology.
Commenting on the appointment, Praveen Sinha (not related to Sachin Sinha), co-founder and managing director of Jabong.com said, "I am looking forward to Sachin's leadership in technology initiatives for the company as we build our new technology labs. E-commerce is a dynamic sector and technology wise we have to innovate at a supersonic rate to stay adept with the industry."
Sachin comes with 16 years of experience in software design, development, and project leadership in building high performance, scalable, distributed software products and platforms for cluster/distributed computing and database. Prior to Jabong, he had founded IQLECT to provide products and solutions in the Big Data space. Before that, he was the CTO and head of technology at Limeroad.com. An IIT-Kanpur alumnus, Sachin had earlier also worked at companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Ocwen, and Indian Oil.
Jabong is one of the two top lifestyle e-tailers in the country along with Flipkart owned Myntra. The site claims to offer over 1,50,000 styles from more than 1,500 international high-street brands, sports labels, as well as Indian ethnic and designer labels.
Earlier this month, Jasper Infotech Pvt. Ltd, which runs online e-com marketplace Snapdeal, had bought a minority stake in logistics firm QuickDel Logistics Pvt Ltd, which runs operations under the GoJavas brand. GoJavas was previously a part of Jabong.
In February this year, Anasha Art, owned and operated by Anasha Art & Craft Llp, had received an undisclosed amount of funding from Praveen. Anasha is owned by Praveen's wife Shayal Taunk.
