QwikCilver ropes in Sanjay Tambwekar from NetApp as CTO

Bangalore-based QwikCilver Solutions Pvt Ltd, the company behind the multi-brand gift card store Giftbig.com, has named Sanjay Tambwekar as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Tambwekar will work towards scaling up its product platform suite and grow the enterprise architecture, e-commerce and m-commerce. IIT Bombay alumnus Tambwekar went on to do MS from North Carolina State University and has completed management studies from INSEAD, France.

He has previously worked with NetApp, Sasken Communications and Verifone. His experience includes dealing with systems software, storage and telecommunication among others spread across multiple functions of engineering, management, sales and marketing.

QwikCilver was founded in 2008 by TP Pratap and Kumar Sudarsan. The company's flagship product Giftbig is a B2C e-commerce platform that enables consumers and corporates to purchase gift cards and vouchers of various brands. It also provides a B2B backend technology to all the transactions that happen for plastic gift cards of various brands.

Kumar Sudarsan, co-founder and director, said: "His (Tambwekar's) immense experience across technology practices would enable us to rapidly scale up our robust product platform to enhance the QwikCilver product suite straddling enterprise architecture, ecommerce, mobile-commerce over the next stage of growth of our company."

QwikCilver had raised an undisclosed amount from Helion Venture Partners and Accel Partners in 2008 followed by $10 million (Rs 63 crore) investment by Amazon and its existing investors two months ago.
