Lava IRIS Fuel 20 with mammoth 4,400 mAh battery launched for Rs 5,399 in India; Intex Aqua Star L available for Rs 6,990
Intex Technologies, an Indian mobile, IT and consumer electronics company, has further expanded its Aqua range of smartphones with the launch of a new device. Christened Aqua Star L, it is the first smartphone from Intex's stable that is running on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. A budget device, it is available for purchase for Rs 6,990 in the country.
Earlier this month, the company had launched two new smartphones called Aqua Desire and Aqua Power HD, which are priced at Rs 5,560 and Rs 9,444 respectively.
In addition, Lava has further expanded its 'IRIS Fuel' range of smartphones in the Indian market with the launch of a new device. Christened IRIS Fuel 20, the device sports a 5 inch display and runs on the Android operating system. The highlight of the device is the fact that it comes with a mammoth 4,400 mAh battery, which the company claims will offer 42 hours of talk time and 42 days of standby time.
The smartphone is available for purchase for Rs 5,399 in the country and will come bundled with a free flip cover. The other smartphones launched by the company this year include IRIS X8 and IRIS Pro 30 that are available for Rs 8,999 and Rs 15,499 respectively.
"Lava Iris Fuel 20 is designed to meet the needs of users who are heavy smartphone users and are looking for a device with a battery life that lets them utilise the phone through the day and more," said Navin Chawla, VP and head- product, Lava International Ltd.

The smartphone features a 5 inch FWVGA touchscreen display (854×480 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 1.3 dual-core MediaTek processor and has 512MB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB (2.2GB storage available to the user), which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
Lava IRIS Fuel 20 has a 5MP fixed focus rear camera with LED Flash that can record HD videos (720p) at 30 fps, and a front facing VGA camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. Additional features of the camera include panorama and High Dynamic Range (HDR), among others. It also comes with the entire suite of Google apps including Google Talk, YouTube, Gmail, Google Search, and Google Play, among others.
The dimensions of the device are 145.6 mm x 74 mm x 10.8 mm and its weight is 174 gm. It comes with dual-SIM (dual-standby) capability, GPS (with A-GPS support) and FM radio. The company has provided a 4,400 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 42 hours of talk time and 1,008 hours of standby time on 2G. It is available in metallic grey and white colours.

The device has a 5 inch FWVGA IPS touchscreen display (854×480 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB (5.17GB available to the user), which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
Intex Aqua Star L has an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, and a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include panorama shot, High Dynamic Range (HDR), face beauty, live photo, and continuous shot, among others. On the connectivity front, the smartphone has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.
The dimensions of the device are 141mm x 72.9mm x 8mm and its weight is 130gm. Intex has provided a 2,000mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 5 hours of talk time and 220 hours of standby time. The smartphone also has a FM Radio, GPS (with A-GPS support) and it comes with dual-SIM capability. It will be available in black and white colours. The company has preloaded a number of apps in the device that include Opera Mini, OLX, Saavn, Recharge it Now, and Askme, among others.
In terms of competition, apart from each others, the smartphones will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 1S (Rs 5,999), Spice Dream Uno Mi-498 (Rs 6,899), Motorola Moto E (Rs 5,999), and Lenovo A6000 (Rs 6,999), among others.
