Telstra Health buys business of Chennai-based e-health solutions firm IdeaObject

Telstra Health, the e-health business unit of Australia's telecom firm Telstra Corp., has acquired the business of Chennai-based health software solutions provider, IdeaObject Software Pvt Ltd, for an undisclosed amount.

Post-acquisition, the IdeaOject's business, along with the business of Cloud9 (an Australian e-health cloud software firm which it acquired recently), will be integrated into Telstra Health.

Founded in 2008 by Seetharam Malur and Prabhakar Annaswamy, IdeaObject is a provider of healthcare solutions to multi-speciality hospitals across the globe. It develops products for large acute-care facilities, including its Cloud Hospital Information System (C-HIS), which is currently deployed in approximately 250 hospitals and clinics across India, Thailand, Malaysia and the UAE. The firm employs more than 50 staff in their development centre in Chennai.

Jim Flynt, currently GM (health applications) at Telstra Health, has been appointed as CEO of Cloud9, while IdeaObject's executive management team will continue to have responsibility for the day-to-day operations and product development activities of the firm.

"The acquisition of both C9 and IdeaObject helps to strengthen our next generation hospital information system offerings to our healthcare customers whilst building on a strong Asian footprint," said Flynt.

Telstra Health is a provider of e-health solutions that aims to create a better health system for patients, providers and funders. It has software solutions for hospital, pharmacy, general practice and specialist doctors, radiology and pathology, aged and residential care, and telemedicine.

Telstra Health works with the industry, government, funders as well as other e-health companies.
