Lenovo launches Octa-core Vibe X2 with 13MP shooter for Rs 19,999 in India
After unveiling the same at the IFA 2014 event in September this year, Lenovo has now launched its Vibe X2 smartphone in the Indian market. A successor to the Vibe X smartphone, the device sports a multi-layered design and runs on the Android operating system.
It has been priced at Rs 19,999 in the country, and will be available for purchase exclusively on home grown e-commerce giant Flipkart.com from Nov 10, 2014 (taking a cue from Motorola and Xiaomi, are we!). Here is a look at the specifications of the device.
Vibe X2 offers a full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display (1920 x 1080 pixels resolution) with 441 ppi pixel density, and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 2.0 GHz Octa-core MediaTek 6595m True8Core processor and has 2GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 32GB, but further memory expansion is not available.
The smartphone has a 13MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash that can also record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, and a 5MP fixed focus front-facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, High Dynamic Range (HDR), among others. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G LTE (depending on the region), as well as a microUSB port.
The dimensions of the device are 68.6 mm x 7.27 mm x 140.2 mm and its weight is 120 gm. Lenovo has provided a 2,300 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 15.5 (2G) and 11 hours (3G/4G) of talk time, and up to 204 hours of standby time. The device has FM Radio and GPS (with A-GPS support), and comes with dual-SIM capabilities (micro SIM + Nano SIM). It will be available in white, gold, red, and charcoal colours.

The smartphone will also give you instant out-of-pocket access to your camera, contacts, and favourite apps from the black screen or lock screen. Users can also add another layer to their smartphone with Vibe Xtension click-on smart layers. While 'Vibe X2 Battery' layer will provide up to 75 per cent more battery life to the smartphone (available for Rs 1,999), 'Vibe X2 Speaker' will deliver hi-fi JBL quality audio.
In addition, Lenovo's built-in 'DOit' series of apps will let you do more including rapid sharing of data with other devices without a network, optimising device performance, preventing viruses and malware, and backing up your contacts and SMS logs.
In terms of competition, the other Octa-core powered devices available in the Rs 15,000 – 20,000 price range includes the likes of Alcatel Onetouch Idol X+ (Rs 15,000), Gionee E7 Mini (Rs 17,549), Micromax Canvas Knight A350 (Rs 16,989), and Huawei Honor 6 (Rs 19,999), among others.
