Times Internet education initiatives head Subhanker Sarker quits
Subhanker Sarker, senior vice president and head of online education initiatives at Times Internet Ltd, the digital business unit of media giant Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd, has quit the company, sources privy to the information told Techcircle.in.
When contacted, Satyan Gajwani, CEO at Times Internet Ltd, confirmed the development over an email.
Sarker led the online education initiatives at TIL and was also helping the firm invest in a few education startups which are still in the pipeline. He quit TIL a couple of months ago. His next moves could not be immediately ascertained.
Prior to joining Times Internet, Sarker worked as COO with start ups like mydala.com and was also president with Justdial. Before that, he also served as a COO with VC-backed Seventymm, which started as a DVD movie rental service but later pivoted to become an e-com venture only to shut down operations due to lack of additional funding.
Times Internet is one of the largest Indian online media firms, with over 40 million monthly visitors across its digital destinations (as of Jan this year). Its portfolio includes news, lifestyle content, entertainment, ecommerce, mobile VAS, music & movie streaming, and local services.
The company also has investments in various startups including those who passed through TIL's TLabs startup acceleration programme.
