Gionee launches GPad G5 for Rs 14,999 in India; Sony's 'selfie' smartphone Xperia C3 available for Rs 23,990
Chinese handset manufacturer Gionee had added yet another device to its smartphone portfolio in the country. Christened GPad G5, the device sports a 5.5 inch display and runs on the Android operating system. Targeted at the mid-price range segment, it is available for purchase for a price of Rs 14,999.
Apart from G5, the company already offers G1, G3, and G4 smartphones as part of its GPad line-up in India.
Sony Mobile Communications has also further expanded its Xperia range of smartphones with the launch of a new device called Xperia C3. According to the company, it is the world's best selfie smartphone thanks to Sony's digital imaging technology and interactive camera apps.
The smartphone has a 5 megapixel wide-angle front camera (25mm with 80 degree field of view) that allows users to capture more in the frame. It also comes with a soft flash to enable clicking of photos day or night by simply double tapping the back cover or using 'Smile Shutter'. The front camera's auto mode automatically adjusts pictures for suitable lighting conditions and the auto scene recognition function works together with HDR and LED flash, ensuring you can capture the best selfies and selfie videos in any light.

The smartphone sports a 5.5 inch HD IPS touchscreen display (1280×720 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz hexa-core Cortex A7 processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
It has an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash that can record HD videos, and a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include face beauty, panorama, geo-tagging, and smile shot, among others. It comes with dual-SIM capability, FM radio and GPS (with A-GPS support). The smartphone is available in black and white colours.
The company has also pre-loaded a number of apps in the smartphone including Yahoo Cricket, DU Battery Saver, NQ Mobile Security, BBM, Saavn, and WeChat, among others.
