QwikCilver ropes in Mahesh Bhalla from Dell as president

Bangalore-based QwikCilver Solutions Pvt Ltd, the company behind the multi-brand gift card store Giftbig.com, has appointed Mahesh Bhalla as its president. In his new role, Bhalla will look to drive the firm's growth, QwikCilver said in a statement.

An alumnus of Institute of Management Technology (Ghaziabad), Bhalla was earlier executive director and general manager at Dell India's consumer & SMB division. Previously, he was assistant general manager at Samsung Electronics. Earlier, Bhalla worked as sales and marketing manager at The Arvind Mills.

QwikCilver was founded in 2008 by TP Pratap and Kumar Sudarshan. The company's flagship product Giftbig is a B2C e-commerce platform that enables consumers and corporates to purchase gift cards and vouchers of various brands. It claims that Giftbig serves millions of customers and corporate employees in India.

QwikCilver also provides a B2B backend technology to all the transactions that happen for plastic gift cards of various brands. The firm had raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Helion Ventures and Accel Partners in 2008.
