LinkedIn's senior VP of products Deep Nishar leaves the firm
Deep Nishar, senior vice president (product and user experience) at LinkedIn Inc, world's largest professional network, has left the firm, he said in a blog post. He, however, will act in an advisory capacity to LinkedIn and its CEO Jeff Weiner.
"After an amazing six years at LinkedIn with some of the most talented people in the world, I've decided the time is right for me to start to focus on what is next in my professional life," he said in the post. "LinkedIn is in great shape and is well on its way to mapping the global economy to connect talent with opportunity at massive scale. I am very confident about its future and feel honoured to have been part of the journey so far."
While he did not disclose details on his next move, he noted in the post that he is looking forward to the "opportunity for a three-peat; or as my cricketing buddies would say, a hat-trick."
Nishar joined LinkedIn in January 2009. Previously, he was senior director (products - APAC) at Google Inc.
In the past, he had founded a company called Patkai Networks. He had also invested in a few companies including Spool (acquired by Facebook in August 2012), Adku (acquired by Groupon in February 2012), Aster Data, and Aardvark.
Nishar is currently a board member of TripAdvisor, one of the leading travel sites in the world, and Opower, a provider of customer engagement solutions for the utility industry.
A MBA from Harvard Business School and MS in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Nishar is also an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur.
