Skyscanner to expand India presence, eyes 24M site visits
Global travel search portal Skyscanner is enhancing its presence in India, targeting business to business space apart from tapping customers with mobile applications to double the number of visits to its site from India to around 24 million in 2014.
"We are undertaking marketing campaigns, sponsorships. We are focusing on business to business space. We are actively looking at handset makers to expand our presence in the Indian market," Skyscanner Asia Pacific General Manger Andy Sleigh told PTI.
Elaborating the company's targets, he said: "We are looking to double the number of visits from India to our site around 24 million in 2014. In 2013, we had around 12 million visits from India."
Skyscanner was the official travel partners for the Delhi Daredevils team for the last IPL, Skyscanner Senior Marketing Manager India, Kavitha Gnanamurthy said on the India specific initiative.
Sleigh said the company offers a one-stop solution for customers searching for flights, hotels and car hire options thus helping them save time and money.
Talking about the growing importance of the Asia-Pacific region for the company Sleigh said: "Asia Pacific contributes about 20 per cent to the company's global revenues currently but our aim is to make it largest by revenues by end of 2016."
In Asia Pacific, the largest market for the company are Australia, China and Japan but India is one of the fastest growing markets in Asia, he added.
Founded in 2003, Skyscanner currently employees around 500 people spanning 35 nationalities across seven offices around the world.
