LG launches its AiO computer Chromebase in India for Rs 32,000
After unveiling the same in December last year, LG Electronics has now launched its first all-in-one (AiO) computer powered by the Google Chrome operating system in the Indian market. Christened Chromebase, the device sports a 21.5-inch Full HD display and comes preloaded with several Google applications.
It also serves as a gateway to tens of thousands of web apps in the Chrome Web Store, many of which work both online as well as offline. According to the company, it is perfect for taking advantage of Google products such as Gmail, Drive, Search, Maps, YouTube, Play or Google+ Hangouts, among others.
The LG Chromebase offers built-in security, employing multiple layers of protection, and comes with automatic built-in updates.
"Simple to operate for all types of users, the LG Chromebase computer represents the combination of simplicity, power and design. It is expected to be widely adopted not only at home, but especially in schools, hotels, call centers and other business settings," said Hyoung-sei Park, head of the IT business division at LG Electronics.
Here is a look at the specifications of the device.
The computer features a 21.5-inch widescreen Full HD IPS display (1920 x 1080 pixels resolution) with a 178-degree viewing angle. It runs on the Google Chrome OS and is powered by the fourth-generation Intel Celeron CPU. The computer comes with 2GB of RAM, and in terms of the internal memory, it has a 16GB Solid State Drive (SSD). In addition, users will also get 100GB of Google Drive free for two years with the computer.
LG Chromebase also incorporates a 1.3 megapixel HD (720p) webcam and a microphone for video calling. The company has also added a pair of built-in 5W speakers for clear and powerful sound. On the connectivity front, it has Wi-Fi, three USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, as well as a RJ45 Ethernet port.
The dimensions of the device (including its stand) are 528.3mm x 190.5mm x 396.2mm and its weight is 4.3kgs. It is available in silver and white colours. The company is also providing accessories like a keyboard, mouse and a cable organiser out of the box.
With the launch of Chromebase, LG joins the short list of players including HP, Samsung and Acer that are already offering Chrome OS-based products in India. These include HP Chromebook 14 (Rs 26,990), Acer C720 Chromebook (Rs 22,999) and Samsung Chromebook (Rs 26,990). In addition, ASUS is also planning to launch its own Chrome OS-based product in the country early next month.
