Sony launches Xperia T3 smartphone for Rs 27,990 in India; Lenovo S850 available for Rs 15,499
Lenovo has further expanded its range of smartphones in India with the launch of S850. Targeted at the mid-price range segment, it is priced at Rs 15,499. Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 earlier this year, the device will be available for purchase starting July 30.
Sony has also launched its Xperia T3 smartphone in the Indian market. This one was unveiled early last month, and runs on the Android operating system. It is available for Rs 27,990.
Here is a look at the specifications of the devices.
The smartphone has a 5 inch HD capacitive touchscreen display (1280×720 pixels resolution) with 294 ppi pixel density and runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB but further memory expansion is not available.
It has a 13 megapixel autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos and a 5MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and 3G, as well as a microUSB port.
The dimensions of the device are 141 x 71 x 8.2mm and its weight is 140gm. Lenovo has provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 13 hours of talk time and 336 hours of standby time. The smartphone also has FM radio and GPS (with A-GPS support). It comes with dual-SIM capability & will be available in white and pink colours.
This one has a 5.3 inch HD TRILUMINOS touchscreen display (1280×720 pixels resolution) with 277 ppi pixel density and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card slot.
It has an 8 MP autofocus rear camera (with Sony Exmor RS for mobile image sensor) with Pulsed LED Flash that can also record full HD videos (1080p) and a 1.1 MP front facing camera for video calling. The camera features include High Dynamic Range (HDR) for photos and videos, sweep panorama, SteadyShot, and red-eye reduction, among others. On the connectivity front, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G and 4G LTE (depending on the region), as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.
The dimensions of the device are 150.7 x 77 x 7mm and its weight is 148gm. Sony has provided a 2,500 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide over 12.5 hours of talk time and 688 hours of standby time. The smartphone also has Near Field Communication (NFC) and GPS (with A-GPS support). It is be available in white, black and purple colours.
In the price range at which it is being offered, the smartphone will face off against the likes of Gionee Elife E7 (Rs 27,400), LG G Pro E988 (Rs 28,550), and Lenovo Vibe Z K910 (Rs 28,799), among others. But we feel the biggest competitor to the device will be Google Nexus 5 that is available for a starting price of Rs 28,650.
