redBus marketing chief Lakshmikant Gupta quits to join GirnarSoft Labs
Lakshmikant Gupta, chief marketing officer (CMO) of Naspers group-owned online bus ticket booking venture redBus.in, has quit the firm to join multi-vertical consumer internet company GirnarSoft Labs Pvt Ltd as its CMO, according to his LinkedIn profile.
At GirnarSoft, Gupta will be in charge of marketing for both the company's B2B and B2C operations.
The development was first reported by afaqs.
"I have spent more than 20 years in conventional marketing and over the time have realised that digital and e-commerce have changed the way Indian consumers are buying products and are interacting with brands. Hence, as a marketer, I need to be in this new age medium to understand consumers better. E-commerce is going to change the way businesses are done in a big way," said Gupta.
Gupta joined redBus in March 2013 and worked there for more than a year. Previously, he was vice president and CMO of LG Electronics India. Earlier, he had worked at companies including Procter & Gamble, Gillette and Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB). Gupta holds an MBA degree in Marketing from Institute of Management Technology (Ghaziabad).
Founded in 2007 by brothers Amit and Anurag Jain, both IIT-Delhi alumni, GirnarSoft owns and operates a slew of consumer internet ventures including Cardekho.com, Bikedekho.com and Pricedekho.com. The company also provides B2B services like website designing, website development, e-commerce site building, mobile app development and internet marketing.
Last November, GirnarSoft had raised $15 million in a Series A round of funding from Sequoia Capital.
