Lava Iris 504Q+ smartphone launched for Rs 13,990; Gionee Pioneer P4 available for Rs 9,199 in India

Just last week, Chinese handset manufacturer Gionee had launched the Elife E7 mini in the Indian smartphone market for Rs 18,900. The company has now added yet another device to its smartphone portfolio in the form of Pioneer 4. While the company has not officially launched the device in the country, it is currently available on a few e-commerce stores for Rs 9,199.

In addition, home grown manufacturer Lava has further expanded its Iris range of smartphones with the launch of Iris 504Q+. The device runs on the Android operating system and has been priced at Rs 13,990.

Gionee Pioneer P4 for Rs 9,199

GioneeThe smartphone has a 4.5 inch TFT FWVGA capacitive touchscreen display (854x480 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6582V/X processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

The device has a 5 megapixel autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, as well as a 2MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, & a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

The dimensions of the device are 135mm x 66.5mm x 9.05mm and its weight is 128.7gm. Gionee has provided a 1,800mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 11 hours of talk time and 386 hours of standby time. The smartphone comes with dual-SIM capability, GPS (with A-GPS support), FM Radio, but no Near Field Communication (NFC). It will be available in black and white colours.

LavaThis one has a slightly larger 5 inch IPS HD touchscreen display (1280x720 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and has 1GB of RA. The internal memory of this device is also 8GB (available memory to the user is 5.33GB), which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Lava Iris 504Q+ has a 10MP autofocus camera with SONY Exmor RS sensor and single LED Flash that can also record full high definition videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second. There is also a 2MP front facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include scene detection and tuning, High Dynamic Range (HDR), vertical & horizontal panorama capture, low light enhancement, face recognition, and geo-tagging.

On the connectivity front, it has Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, & a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. The dimensions of the device are 146.7mm x 72.5mm x 7.9mm and its weight is 149gm. The company has provided a 2,000mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 200 hours of standby time. The smartphone comes with dual-SIM capability (with dual-standby), GPS, and FM Radio. It will be available in grey and white colours.

In the under Rs 14,000 price range, it will compete with the likes of Nokia Lumia 625 (Rs 13,999), Spice Pinnacle FHD Mi-525 (Rs 13,999), Micromax Canvas 4 A210 (Rs 13,939), LG L70 (Rs 13,775), and Karbonn Titanium S7 (Rs 13,490), among others. But the biggest competition for the smartphone will be in the form of Motorola's Moto G that is available for Rs 12,499 and Rs 13,999 for the 8 and 16GB models respectively.
