Microsoft Ventures' India director Mukund Mohan to head operations in the US
Mukund Mohan, director, Microsoft Ventures in India, is relocating to Microsoft Corporation's global headquarters in Redmond (US) starting July 2014, to take on the additional responsibility of helping to set up Microsoft Ventures presence in the country. According to the company, the relocation is part of some changes being made to strengthen its focus and establish a strong global footing for future growth.
Post relocation, he will continue to lead the India operations along with Ravi Narayan and Kattayil Rajinish Menon. While Narayan will be responsible for the Bangalore Accelerator, Menon will drive the community and engagements with the ecosystem in the country. Mohan will continue to report to Rahul Sood, general manager and partner, Microsoft Ventures.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Mohan was a serial entrepreneur, and had founded and sold companies in the internet and mobile domains, according to his profile on LinkedIn. He has also invested in seed stage in seven startups in India (over three years) and 27 in Silicon Valley (over 10 years). He had also earlier worked at companies like Cisco and Hewlett-Packard.
Microsoft Ventures Accelerator India had announced a list of 16 technology startups for its fifth batch. The early-to-middle-stage accelerator is focused on themes such as smart cloud services, mobile applications, urban informatics and big data, internet of things and wearable computing.
